Fast-track your postgraduate journey. Use your existing Level 7 qualification to progress directly into a full Master’s degree — with reduced modules and a shorter route to completion.
The MA Education (Advanced Standing) is a streamlined route to a full Master’s degree for those who already hold a recognised postgraduate qualification in education — such as our own Level 7 Certificate in Education. Delivered through ICE Global in partnership with Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), this pathway recognises your existing credits and expertise, allowing you to progress directly to advanced-level study rather than starting a Master’s from scratch.
Designed for educators who have already demonstrated postgraduate-level capability, this route reduces both the time and cost of achieving a full MA — while still delivering the same rigorous research training, critical inquiry, and academic recognition as the standard MA Education.
This pathway is ideal for educators who already hold a Level 7 postgraduate certificate in education and want to convert that achievement into a full Master’s degree.
Holders of a 60-credit postgraduate certificate in education (such as our own Level 7 Certificate in Education) looking to progress directly into a Master’s.
Teachers and trainers who want to deepen their research capability and academic standing without repeating foundational modules already completed.
Educators aiming for leadership, policy, or academic roles who need a full Master’s qualification to advance.
Those who want the recognition of a full MA with a shorter, more affordable route than starting from the beginning.
Your existing Level 7 postgraduate credits are formally recognised, so you don't repeat what you've already achieved.
Progress directly into advanced modules, significantly shortening your path to a full MA.
Reduced module requirements mean a more affordable route to the same recognised Master's qualification.
Build genuine research capability through a dedicated postgraduate dissertation, supervised by an experienced academic.
A full Master's degree from BNU, respected by employers, institutions, and education providers worldwide.
Learn from experienced educators and academic professionals throughout your dissertation journey.
Because your prior Level 7 study is recognised, the Advanced Standing route focuses on advanced research and specialist practice rather than repeating foundational modules.
[Note: exact module titles, credit values, and options should be confirmed against BNU’s current programme specification before publishing — module names can be adjusted year to year.]
Up to 30 credits of Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) may be recognised within the Master’s framework, based on your existing qualification. APL cannot be applied to research modules, and prior learning must generally have been achieved within the last 5 years.
The MA Education programme is delivered via a blended learning model that combines live, online sessions with flexible self-directed study – allowing you to continue working whilst you learn.
Asynchronous online content on BNU's VLE (Blackboard) supports flexible, guided independent study around your schedule.
Observed teaching sessions, professional presentations, and structured dialogues offer real-time leadership feedback.
Reflective reports and research-based assignments develop your academic rigour and analytical skills.
This pathway is designed specifically for those who already hold a relevant postgraduate qualification.
A recognised Level 7 postgraduate certificate in education (60 credits) — such as our own Level 7 Certificate in Education (PGCE equivalent).
If you don’t yet hold a postgraduate certificate in education, our full MA Education or Level 7 Certificate in Education may be the right starting point instead.
Prior learning – academic, professional, or vocational – may be recognised through the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process, potentially granting exemption from certain modules.
A full Master’s degree strengthens your standing for senior roles across education — leadership, curriculum development, policy, research, and academia.
